Prairie Winds exhibits the charm of a traditional neighborhood with the conveniences of modern amenities. The five distinct product types consist of 124 single family homes, 36 Row homes, 20 ranch condominiums and 48 townhomes, on 100 acres with more than half of that land preserved in open space.
In keeping with the standards of traditional neighborhood design, we incorporated many features of a highly livable neighborhood:
- The variety of housing types and prices makes Prairie Winds attractive to a diverse mix of families, empty-nesters, singles, and retirees who want to be part of a vibrant community.
- Sidewalks and trails encourage pedestrian traffic.
- Public space A pool, community building (the Big Red Barn), community gardens, golf course, and fitness paths are easily accessible throughout the community.
- Street focus - Spacious front porches overlook sidewalks, encouraging interaction between people.
- Wired for today The community offers fiber. Web-accessible cameras offer residents and the builder a feeling of security.

Fun facts about design elements:
- One windmill was built in 1920 and came from Uncle Ralph Bosgraaf’s farm.
- The windmill in the pond aerates the pond as it spins.
- The entrance structure and the interior walls of the Big Red Barn feature wood salvaged from old barns.
- Residents may claim one or more of 100 organic garden plots with a potting shed at the community gardens.
- The silo by the community garden is an original structure but the “topper” is new. The silo even lights up!
- The bridges on the golf course were for sale on the side of the road in Northern Michigan - just like cherries.
- The names of the different neighborhoods are also the names of the native grasses that are planted in the “prairie” areas of Prairie Winds.
